Who is Busy Bloomin?

Hi, I’m Beth, a former biologist turned flower grower. I initially grew flowers to draw pollinators for our pumpkins and fruit trees but it quickly turned into a full blown obsession with my first packets of zinnias and sunflowers. I watched every YouTube video, dove into soil health, learned about integrative pest management (IPM) practices and grew (and killed!) many plants along the way. Now, I sell my seasonal blooms and established a micro-nursery in my California home.

I believe flowers and beauty should be for everyone so I also volunteer with local elementary schools establishing pollinator and cut flower gardens.

Why flowers?

Being a flower farmer has felt like the best mix of my two worlds. The scientist in me loves getting nerdy about seed germination, IPM, soil health, and all the tiny details of each plant that I grow — my greenhouse is my lab where I can experiment, document and learn from all of my mistakes. But growing and designing with flowers also gives me the creative outlet I didn’t have in my former life. It also keeps me grounded. Flower farming is honest work and it forces me to slow down and enjoy the process, even when I get lost (literally and metaphorically) in the weeds.
